Explore your imagination

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog!

I managed to get a tag made in time for the Tim Holtz

Here's my interpretation of Tim's challenge.

DSC00308 3.37.51 PM

I have followed Tim's instruction (here) and created my monoprinting
background using the Eyechart stencil.

I incorporated the TH Eye Stamper image and stenciled some
embossing paste in the corners for added texture and interest.
Few TH remnant rubs were adhered here and there to
further expand my interpretation.

Butterfly and moth stamp images from the TH Papillon stamps
were watercolored with Distress Inks and cut out for embellishments.
Other embellishments include metal gears from my stash
and a piece of TH Chevron Frameworks die cut.

Lastly, I distressed the seam binding ribbon for the final touch.

I had fun making this tag and enjoyed playing with the inks
and water, and see the colors come to life.
At the end, it is worthwhile to get my fingers all inky :^).

Hope you like my interpretation of Tim's June tag and
thanks so much for stopping by.

Hugs,
Katie

for visiting my blog. I appreciate all your lovely comments.

Today we have a new card challenge at The Ribbon Girl Blog.

Tilda with Love Cake ~ Birthday Card at The Ribbon Girl

Morning crafters and happy Sunday!

I have a DT card to share with you. I made it for
the May Magnolia Only Challenge at The Ribbon Girl Blog.
The theme this week is ~ Birthday.

It has been ages since I made a criss-cross card.
I used Tim Holtz Sizzix On-The-Edge Doily die to cut the
base of this criss-cross card. I added a cake shaped
pull-out tag for writing greeting messages.

The image is Tilda With Love Cake.
I colored it with DI pads. I added some glitters on Tilda
and embossed around the image with Shabby White Frantage.

I made a little clay frame for the sentiment using
Martha Stewart silicon clay mold.

Designer Paper: Magnolia Strawberry Plaid
Dies: Tim Holtz, Magnolia, Memory Box

The following embellishments are available at The Ribbon Girl Shop:
WOC white sweetheart blossoms, Darjeeling pink mini blossom,
Maya Road ivory pearl trinket pin, 13mm Olivia white cluny lace,
15mm Elizabeth white cluny lace, 32mm Valerie white cluny lace,
25mm organza pink/silver sparkle stripe ribbon.

I really like the new organza pink/silver sparkle stripe ribbon

Imagine, Create and Inspire

Good evening and welcome to my blog!

A quick post to share another collage tag with you.
This time I made a feminine version of the TH 2014 May Tag.

DSC09557

I first stained the DP with TH Forest Moss and Antique Linen Distress stain.
The stained paper looks greener and browner in real life.

I inked my TH Honeycomb Texture Fade embossing folder and
debossed a couple of DP strips for my collage blocks.
All paper edges were sanded and distressed with Walnut Stain DI.

I added die cuts, paper flowers, and miscellaneous trinkets from my stash.

DP: Maja Design Vintage Summer Basic Collection
Dies: Memory Box, Spellbinders, TH.

The following embellishments are available at The Ribbon Girl Shop:
17mm Lavinia ivory cotton lace, natural button twine,
Darjeeling pink mini blossoms, WOC white lily flower,
WOC 30mm ivory wild rose, heart wooden buttons,
25mm faux Hessian natural ribbon, Prima resin angel.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a lovely weekend.

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 May

Hello Bloggers!

It seems I have less and less time to craft or visit your blogs these days.
I am simply exhausted working full-time with shift changes.

This week I was able to sketch my idea and design during my break time as
I would really like to participate in Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 May challenge.

One of my goals this year is to try different styles and techniques.
Not that I don't like my usual shabby style but I want to broaden my horizon
and skills, and learn to use different coloring media and techniques.

Here's my take of the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2014 May challenge.
This tag card measures 5"(W) x 7.5'(H). It has 2 pull-out tags for messages.
I made this card for a co-worker who is leaving the company.

DSC09557

I have used the techniques described in Tim's blog, here.
I don't have any Manila tag so I made my own tags using designer paper.
I dipped the tags and ribbons in DI stains and spritz water to get
the distressed look. I love this technique, it's just AWESOME!

Next, since I don't have any Shadow Press word embossing folder,
I inked the raised side of the folder image and ran the paper and folder through
my Big Shot machine. The inked images were debossed onto the paper.

I assembled the collage pieces and decorated them with
TH Ideaology and other embellishments from my stash.

Designer Paper: Maja Design Vintage Summer Collection
Dies: Tim Holtz

Brown button twine, cream and blue seam binding ribbons,
small key charm, and ivory measure tape ribbon are
available at The Ribbon Girl Shop.

I had fun creating this card.
I like the way it turns out and love the collage style.

Thanks so much for stopping by and wish you a lovely weekend!

Hugs,
Katie

Since Mother's Day is next Sunday, I made this card for my mom.
The card measures 6" x 6". The large doily edge die cut is a pull-out tag.

The sweet image and butterfly are from Pion Design Vintage Garden Collection.
I just love this Pion paper collection, so soft and delicate.
I dusted some glitters on the butterfly and dotted pearl pen here and there.

Tilda As Clown ~ Buttons and Bows at The Ribbon Girl

Happy Sunday Dear Bloggers!

Can't believe it's the last Sunday of April already.
It is also the Magnolia Only Challenge at The Ribbon Girl Blog.
The theme for this week is ~ Buttons and Bows.
Prizes for this challenge are a stamp from Magnolia Sweden and
a £10 voucher towards a spending spree at The Ribbon Girl.

I thought I should challenge myself to create something other then
my usual shabby style and use colors that I normally don't use.
So here are a couple of clown boot cards.

I colored the Tilda As Clown image with Distress Ink pads.

I wanted to make a clown boot shaped card that goes with the image.
Failing to find a cut-file on the web, I decided to make my own template.

It took me a while to assemble the first boot.
Once I got it going, it took no time to make the second one.

The boot with 2 removable tags on top measures approximately
5.5" (W) x 5.5" (H).  The green boot is 1/4" shorter.

I ran out of top stitching thread so I did faux stitching this time.
It actually turned out better as it is less bulky for gluing.
I also used the white gel pen to draw the eyelets.

DPs: MajaDesign Walking in the Forrest and Life in the Country Collection
Dies: Magnolia, Memory Box, and Stampin'Up

The following embellishments are available at The Ribbon Girl Shop:
Ivory, natural and dusky blue button twines, star wooden buttons,
light lemon yellow and blue sweetheart blossom flowers,
8mm Rebecca cluny lace, 18mm Teresa cluny lace,
1/8" sticky tape.

We would love it if you can join in the fun creating.
